Got a nice hit today. My neighbor came by and offered me 30 pine logs from 15 to 20 inches in diameter. I haven't gone to check them out yet, but he's a pretty reliable man. I can use the logs for sure, I'd like to cut some stuff for various projects. I'm curious how many people have used pine for vertical siding? I've used it a few times; coated it with a redneck stain, made from burnt motor oil and diesel fuel. So far it's holding up well. I also got a good lead on some walnut from another neighbor. An elderly lady I know just passed, and her daughter inherited her property. There's several walnut on the lot, and the daughter wants the walnut gone. Says she is tired of all the walnut on the ground when she cuts the grass. Works for me! There's a lot of twisted limbs on the walnut, and I hope it will make some good furniture wood. Keep you posted on that.

I use pine all the time. Its my most abundant material. Keep it dry and off the ground ,with plenty of finish and it will last a long time. I plan on using a solid based stain on my board and batten shed.
